Winning in Online Poker

Today poker is one of the most famous games in the world. The game of the poker is played over the internet by millions of players each day. Online poker started almost 20 years ago, and it seems like a gambling game for most. But, one that conveys a few misinterpretations to the inexperienced eye.

Some consider it to be a game of skill and luck, while actually it is the goal of expertise. The fact is, online poker is a game that requires various skills to be fruitful. You need to also remember that poker is 100% the game of skill in the long run.

However, there is a bigger element of luck in the short term. The expert poker players like the pro team of BeastsOfPoker mitigate the luck aspect by consistently making numerically superior decisions. This allows them to win in the long run. The present findings indicate that skills play a meaningful term and the relative importance of chance and skill considerably limit the role of the possibility of extant research.

Study the Game before Playing

Researching different poker sites before playing is essential if you want to win money. With regards to online poker, cash games are available to virtually anyone. As a result, players need to remember that all that they do at the virtual table passes on data. For example, how rapidly a player folds, put down a wager, or bets everything can pass on to their opposition how solid a player sees their hand to be.

Thus, players ought to be reliable with these activities to abstain from parting with any tells. That may be utilized against them. Much the same as a poker face is important at a live poker table. Playing sound poker online is craft that must be rehearsed over and over again if you want to win!

Research Poker Sites & Know Your Opponents

It is legal to make money on online poker tournaments and cash games as well. Always do your research on the websites to know their reputation. On the other hand, the brain science of poker must be used by players to gather data from their adversaries at every possible opportunity. Getting on unobtrusive tells, for example, how rapidly a player responds to occasions during a hand can be the distinction between knowing when a player has a solid hand and being caught off-guard by it.

It is also possible to utilize some online poker programs. Great examples of these softwares are Holdem Manager 3 and Poker Tracker 4. Writing notes of your opponents can be very valuable as you can better exploit their mistakes later. Players can utilize their data assortment abilities to give themselves an edge at the table. Less gifted players probably won't utilize this option enough.

Protect Your Bankroll

As it were, life resembles the poker game. The result is never unmistakable in any event when you utilize your aptitude to place yourself in the best situation to win. One of the most significant skills in both poker and life is to protect your assets. Much the same as poker expert expects players to set a financial plan. You should keep away from foolish spending. Instead, grow your bankroll slowly and steadily by playing poker.

Many players have gone broke in poker by betting everything they have in a single hand. Nothing is certain in poker, which makes this a foolish behaviour. Rather, living to battle one more day or putting down increasingly moderate wagers to stay in the game is what you should do. You can’t chase losses and expect the luck to always be in your favour. Having proper bankroll management rules is something that any effective player needs eventually build.

Final words

How much money can you can win in online poker? Sky is the limit when it comes to poker winnings. It’s a question of how good you become at the game. Texas Hold'em poker is a game of skill that has an object of chance. To become a winner against a professional poker player is similar to winning against the casino in Blackjack. In poker, this is much easier to do though.

In the past days, the gamblers had to meet up anywhere, mostly in the casino to gamble. But, today you can play poker online from the comfort of your home. Imagine if players of the past were able to do this without having to walk or going somewhere! If this sounds like a compelling idea for you, just get started in studying the game. Once you’re familiar with the rules, sign-up at one of the major poker sites. The poker journey awaits you!

Online Gambling: Profitable Tricks for Gaining an Edge

When it comes to getting rich quick, it's hard to top the prospect of gambling your way to baller status. This path to paradise is often instead a road to disaster, however, as most bettors with dreams of scoring a fortune from the house are undisciplined, ill-informed and driven by emotion. Rather than improving their financial position, they basically donate their cash to line the pockets of gaming hall owners.

There are ways to tilt the odds in your favor whether you prefer poker, casino games, sports betting, or some other form of wagering. In order to do so, you need to take advantage of every edge available. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to enhance your chances of booking sizable wins by claiming every benefit from the gaming operators to which you're entitled. Of course, you'll need to be familiar with all the strategies and techniques of proper play too, but the addition of lucrative extras on top of what you collect through straight gambling is indispensible if your aim is to become a true professional gambler.

Keep your eyes open for the following special deals depending on what types of wagering you intend to conduct:

1. Online Poker

Rake races, free tournament entries and mission challenges all have their place in building the bankrolls of aspiring card sharks. However, there's one type of perk that stands head-and-shoulders above all others if you plan on putting in some serious volume at the poker tables: rakeback. Unlike the other promos mentioned above, rakeback is always active, delivering back to you a steady portion of the rake and tournament fees you pay to the poker room.

Rake is how the operators make money, extracting a portion of each pot for themselves. Just like other businesses do, they refund some value back to their frequent and valuable clients. Unlike credit card reward programs or bulk merchandise discounts, though, the percentage of cashback on offer with a good RB deal often exceeds 20%, 30%, 40% or even 50% of the money you pay!

There are any number of internet poker sites that offer rakeback. If rakeback is present at the room you play at but you neglect to take advantage of it, then you're needlessly leaving money on the table.

2. Online Sports Betting

Betting on sports is a time-honored way of securing an income. Just look at Las Vegas-based sports betting king Bill Walters and his reported $100 million net worth to see how profitable this activity can be. It's now even easier to get started in this field due to the proliferation of online sportsbooks.

Of course, you still need to make your picks carefully. You'll want to read up on the latest information and statistics on the matches and players you're going to put money on. Yet, even after conducting all your research on the athletes and teams involved, there's still more to take into account.

You see, each bookie charges a vigorish (“vig” or “juice”), meaning that the odds are shaded a bit from what the bookmaker thinks the true odds are so that the establishment can make money. However, there are frequent reduced juice specials running from time to time, and it behooves you to capitalize on them whenever possible. The less the house takes for itself, the more there is to distribute to winning bettors: a category to which you will hopefully belong. A few internet bookmakers have even earned themselves a reputation for everyday low juice, and it may be in your best interest to make one of these your sports betting home.

3. Online Casinos

It's true that the house always has an advantage in casino games (barring the rare progressive slots jackpot or full-pay video poker machine). Yet, this edge is sometimes miniscule, as it is in blackjack, and you can frequently more than offset the house advantage by claiming promotional offers and using a little bit of common sense.

You may sometimes encounter free casino bets, matched bets and loss-back promos. Each of these forms of complimentary cash adjusts the mathematics of the games in question so that, in many cases, you can gain a positive expectation. Now, there's a lot of variance to these betting opportunities, so you can do everything right and still lose. But by shifting the numbers in your favor, you stand an excellent chance of setting yourself up for enviable results in the long run.

4. Brick-and-Mortar Casinos

We've focused on virtual gaming facilities so far because they're the most convenient for our readers, but plenty of pro gamblers have made their bones in live casino settings. Apart from spotting and exploiting errors in dealing and other subtle casino mistakes, perhaps the most important thing you can do is make sure all your play is tracked.

Casino reward cards exist so that these establishments can treat their VIPs right, but they only work if the customer actually participates. When you sit down at a casino table game, like baccarat, always make sure you present your club card to the dealer. When plowing through the rounds on a slot machine or video poker terminal, don't forget to insert your card into the channel provided for this purpose. In games with a low house edge, the value of the comps you collect can often exceed the casino's expected take from your play.

You can't earn comps without a rewards card, fool!

“Queen of Comps” Jean Scott is well aware of this element of casino play. Over the years, this retired schoolteacher has parlayed her knowledge of correct video poker strategy and the intricacies of casino reward systems to pick up free vacations, top-shelf liquor and food, tickets to popular events and more. You too can achieve similar levels of rewards – but only if you remember to have your bets tracked through your player card!

It is possible to make a living – and a pretty decent one too – by gambling. But you have to ask yourself what kind of bettor you are. Are you one of the millions of chumps who trust in luck and/or prayer to swim against the current and become one of the handful of substantial winners? Or are you someone who engages your intelligence, patience and emotional fortitude to steadily accumulate earnings while always attempting to use every legal means at your disposal to turn the tables on the house? If you're a member of this latter group, then the tactics we've outlined above will undoubtedly help you in attaining your goals.

Poker Grinder

word type: poker slang

  1. Poker player who plays in games they're significantly over-bankrolled for while also playing a style of poker that leads to consistent and steady win rates.

* definition of 'grinder', taken from "Grinderschool" training site

grinder (n) a professional poker player who earns a living through small but consistent winnings (See also: rounder)

I think of a grinder as a player who--
1) puts in great volume,
2) has a positive win rate,
3) thinks systematically about the game and tries to improve as they play,
4) plays within their bankroll.

Grinders rarely "take shots" and money does not come pouring on them, but nor do they lose it easily. They accumulate capital slowly, but steadily and securely.

Grinders rarely take shots because grinders don't take alot of risks. Grinders look for maximum gain for the least amount of risk...

a grinder is a player who understands that solid play + volume > short term variance.

He just keeps putting in hour after hour, day after day, month after month until he looks up at the end of the year and sees a significant profit.

Understanding the math and playing solid poker according to the math will always win in the long run regardless of the short term results. I like these two mostly.

Where You Can Find Grinders

Actually, you can find grinders in almost all types of poker in the lower and middle limits. You typically don't find a "grinder" per se at the nosebleed stakes. Most grinders will multi-table to the tune of eight or more simultaneous tables, oftentimes of identical game types and limits. For instance, a Sit and Go grinder might play eight tables at a time of $25 turbo 9-person Sit and Goes. Considering that 10% (after rake) is a great ROI for a Sit and Go player, that means that the player is only making $2.50 per sit and go. But if they can squeeze in 20 sit and goes in an hour, then they're "grinding" a $50 per hour win rate. By contrast, if that same player decided to go play a $200 Sit and Go, then they're now "off their grind" and taking a "shot" at a higher game.

You Should Also Know...

While some grinders do play almost exclusively large, multi-table tournaments, these people are a very rare breed. The goal in a large tournament is to make a big score, to win a sum of money that can sustain you until the next sizeable take. Some people are able to win small to medium prizes on a fairly consistent basis, but in general, grinders don't specialize in multi-table tournaments because luck can swing one's results too quickly in them and they take too long to make smaller wins worth the time.
Additionally, online players can earn rakeback to increase their hourly rate, and some online poker rooms only offer rakeback for cash games.

In Film - Rounders

The terms "grind" and "grinder" are featured in the opening monologue of the popular poker film, Rounders.

Guys around here'll tell ya... you play for a living.
It's like any other job. You don't gamble. You grind it out.
Your goal is to win one big bet an hour, that's it.
Get your money in when you have the best of it, and protect it when you don't.
Don't give anything away.
That's how I've paid my way through half of law school.
A true grinder.
See, I learned how to win a little at a time. But finally, I've learned this...
If you're too careful, your whole life can become a fuckin' grind

The Gambler - Kenny Rogers

You've got to know when to hold 'em
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away
'Cause every hand's a winner And every hand's a loser

High Stakes Heads Up No Limit Hold Em Online Cash Game

High Stakes Heads Up No Limit Hold Em Online Cash Game - The Ultimate Poker Challenge

Chess vs Poker

They say chess is the Games of Kings.  Give me a break!!
There is no risk in chess, no financial gain, no financial loss.  In my view, chess is pointless.  It kill all hope for the beginner, since chess is a complete information game.  There is no luck and randomness in it.  The best player will always win.

At less in poker, you always got an element of luck, which can play in your favor on the short-term.  But like all zero-sum game, in the long term, the most skilled player will always win.  But at least, the beginner or a player with marginal skills got some chance to break the bank if he is lucky, sometime very lucky.  It is all about choosing the right table at an appropriate level.

But don't think for a second that poker is just a brainless game of hazard and chance.  Don't you think that if it was just a silly game of luck you would always see the same people winning poker tournaments years after years?!?  Those people reigning on top of the poker world would be the World Luckiest People?!?  That's like all those profanes who think that the stock market is just a "game" of luck!?!

For playing it myself, I can tell you that luck, in the long term, play for very little in the career of a poker player.

Never mind, there is no money to be made on chess.

Hold'em is to stud what chess is to checkers.
--Johnny Moss

Doyle Brunson was referring to no-limit hold’em (NLH) as the ‘the Cadillac of poker games’ over 30 years ago.  This is undoubtedly the case in cash games.  Doyle Brunson also rightfully said that No-Limit Hold' Em is a money game played with cards.

The Ultimate Poker Challenge

But if poker is so great!!!  Can you tell me which form of poker is the best?  Which poker variant is the ultimate poker challenge?

Without any hesitation I say High Stakes Heads Up No Limit Hold Em Online Cash Game.  Don't give a fuck about chess, bridge, and backgammon.  When your life is at stake at the center of the table and your financial well-being depends on the way you will play the flop, the turn, and the river...  Like Doyle Brunson would: "That's poker folks!"

No-Limit is a not a card game. It is a money game played with cards.
-- Arthur Reber

High Stakes Heads Up No Limit Hold Em Online Cash Game

High Stakes: Higher stake equal superior skills.  That's where the big boys play.  You will find the best players in the world, poker pros, and billionaire gamblers at the highest stakes...

Heads Up: The most extreme form of poker is heads-up, mano-to-mano, that where you see who is the best player of poker...

No-Limit: that's where you can be your own worst enemy.  You're not only against the other player but you're against your emotions.  In poker, you must control yourself and keep a cold head.  Emotions are deadly!  Going on tilt is forbidden...

Hold' Em: Texas Hold' Em is the name of the game...

Online: Faster pace equal more hands per hours.  That's where all the action is!  The more hands you play the more experience you get.

Cash Game: The most lucrative and deadly form of poker.  That's where the money is...

Who is on top of the food chain?

Sorry Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey is on top of the food chain.  Phil Ivey is the best overall poker player in the world.  Phil Ivey is excellent!

My HSHUNLHEOCG top poker players ranking

Maybe not as controversial as my lambasting of the chess game but it will certainly suscitate a lot of reactions from poker aficianados.  I will decorticate each element of the HS-HU-NL-HE-O-CG one by one.  So it will be less confusing.

High Stakes:  The Ultimate King of Nosebleed Poker is Texas banker Andy Beal, hands down.  Billionaire Andy Beal was at the center of the most epic poker confrontation in recent memory.  The Banker versus The Corporation.  The billionaire banker from Texas vs the best professional poker players of the world in $100 000/$200 000 Heads-Up Limit Hold'em.  What do you think about that?  It's not just nosebleed poker, it's bloodbath poker.  The stakes were so high that the pros got to regroup themselves and form a Corporation to equal the endless bankroll of Andy Beal.  The Banker defeated The Corporation a few times until Phil Ivey came to The Corporation rescue and stomped The Banker.  To read the entire story goes to: Andy Beal - The Banker versus The Corporation

Heads-Up:  Really close to the excellence in HSHUNLHEOCG, his name is Tom "durrrr" Dwan.  Right now, the guy is the most successful High Stakes Heads-Up No-Limit Hold'em Online Cash Game poker player in the world.  Sorry again Tom Dwan, you were my first choice but...  wait a minute... an unknown player named Isildur1 snatched $5.3 millions from your bankroll.  Isildur1, later revealed to be Viktor Blom, defeated Patrick Antonius for $1.6 million.  Was conned out of $4.2 millions by Brian Hastings in an unfair battle.  And, just like Andy Beal, Isildur1 was outplayed by Phil Ivey, losing $3.2 millions to Ivey.   To read the entire story go to Isildur1 Viktor Blom.

No-Limit:  Stu Ungar.  Blessed with a genius IQ and a photographic memory.  He started as an unbeatable gin rummy player, beating cheaters and world champions alike.Once said there was no one who could beat him in poker other than himself.  He was right since he self-destructed snorting excessive amounts of cocaine (his nose collapsed) and routinely losing all his money on sports bets, horse bets, and prop bets.  Having won an estimated $30 million during his poker career, Stu Ungar died of an heart attack at 46 years old with only $800 in his pocket.  His friends paid for his funeral services.

Hold'em:  Sorry no Phil Hellmuth there, this is not about tournament poker it's about cash game heads-up.  I will go with Doyle Brunson here.  The Godfather of Poker.  Like he would say:  "Texas Hold'em is the Cadillac of poker."

Online:  Tom Dwan.  Despite his $5.3 millions downstring against Isildur1 Viktor Blom.  Over the long haul, durrrr is said to be the best poker player online.  Phil Ivey think that one day, Tom Dwan will kick his butt at poker.

Cash Game:
???  To paraphrase Phil Ivey, cash game is real poker.  And Phil Ivey is The Man here.  He bested Andy Beal and won more than $16 millions from him and he outsmarted Isildur1 Viktor Blom earning $3.2 millions.  Enough said.

They are all playing differently but aggression is a common trait of all these poker champions.  Whether you are tight or loose you should always play aggressive poker.  You must be a shark to swim with the sharks.
